From September 25 to 29, the Third China (Macao) International High-Quality Consumption Expo and Hengqin World Bay Area Forum, co-hosted by Nanguang Group, the Ministry of Commerce's Bureau of Foreign Trade Development, and the Guangdong Provincial Department of Commerce, will be held in Macao and Hengqin.
On September 27, the opening ceremony for the Third Expo and the JD Brazil Pavilion was launched in Macao. This year's event lasts three days, aiming to leverage the unique geographic advantages of Macao and Hengqin to create a platform for showcasing, launching, experiencing, and trading high-quality products and services. Concurrently, sub-forums on cross-border e-commerce and cultural tourism will also take place in Macao.
The exhibition spans 50,000 square meters, featuring three themes: the "National Boutique Pavilion," the "Greater Bay Area Specialty Pavilion," and the "Imported Goods Pavilion." Nearly 400 international brands from various countries and regions, along with renowned enterprises from Guangdong, Shanxi, Xiamen, and others, including major state-owned companies like China Resources and Poly Group, will present their latest offerings.
Jiang Weiliang, General Manager of Nanguang Group, stated that since the inaugural event in 2022, the expo has attracted nearly 400 international brands from dozens of countries, successfully showcasing the unique advantages of Hengqin and Macao overseas. The expo has evolved into an important platform for enhancing cooperation between Guangdong and Macao, creating a trading center for high-quality imported consumer goods, and establishing an ecosystem for high-quality consumption.
During the release of the "2024 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area High-Quality Consumption Report," Gao Jianghong, Director of the High-Quality Consumption Research Institute of SFC, noted significant changes in consumption patterns in the Greater Bay Area, driven by enhanced infrastructure connectivity and accelerated financial market integration. Upgraded to Version 3.0, this year’s expo focuses on the synergy between domestic and international markets, exploring new consumer models and trends in cross-border e-commerce through the newly established Imported Goods Pavilion. This platform aims to expand commercial channels and enhance international resource integration.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Brazil and the 25th anniversary of Macao's return. The central government has expressed clear support for Macao to serve as a trade cooperation platform between China and Portuguese-speaking countries. In this context, the Brazilian National Pavilion was established at the expo.
During the opening ceremony of the JD Brazil Pavilion, the Brazilian Consul General in Hong Kong, Manuel Santos, emphasized Macao's vibrant role in strengthening ties between China and Portuguese-speaking countries. He noted that this collaboration with JD at the expo reflects a commitment to deepening bilateral relations and fostering cooperation between Chinese and Brazilian enterprises.
Tan Cong, Vice President of JD Group's Enterprise Business, remarked that the growing demand for high-quality foreign products represents a new consumer trend. JD aims to support the introduction of high-quality Brazilian products into the Chinese market, positively impacting Sino-Brazilian industrial cooperation and economic development.
The newly established Imported Goods Pavilion showcases selected premium products from over ten countries, including national pavilions from Canada, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Japan, and others. International exhibitors hope to leverage the expo's platform to connect with consumers in the Greater Bay Area and expand their networks of Chinese distributors.
As the first expo of its kind, using the innovative "One Expo, Two Locations" format, the High-Quality Consumption Expo leverages Macao's global appeal while drawing on Guangdong's vast consumer market.
The expo has attracted numerous businesses from Guangdong, Shanxi, Ningxia, Xiamen, Hengqin, and Macao, along with state-owned enterprises like Nanguang Group, China Resources, and Poly Group, showcasing a wide array of products in various sectors, including healthcare, culture, and retail.
Additionally, the exhibition features a series of events, including performances of ten intangible cultural heritage projects, and a rural revitalization section that highlights ethnic cultural charm.
